Matty Hill

Matty Hill

Matty is passionate about inspiring self-motivation in his students, by reshaping their relationship with the subject. Using his experience as an educational facilitator Matty is able to tailor his classes to each students specific learning style. By making his lessons fun and engaging, Matty encourages a passion for Maths even in his students who 'HATED' it when they began their lessons. With over 1000 hours of tutoring experience over 6 years, Matty has an extensive knowledge of how to help his students achieve the best results they can.

Qualifications: Matty holds an A in A-Level maths and a degree in Psychology from the University of Nottingham. Matty works as facilitator for an educational charity call Beyond Equality, where he holds complex conversations with boys in secondary schools about the impact social media and gender norms have on healthy relationships and consent. Matty has tutored maths for over 6 years, and 98% of his students have achieved their target grade or higher.

Maya Nell

Maya is a dedicated and knowledgeable tutor, currently studying biological sciences at Imperial College London. Her passion for the subject is reflected in her teaching style; creating an enjoyable learning environment, in which she tries to encourages the same enthusiasm for biology. She is passionate about nurturing the curiosity of her students and can offer advice about her experience working in labs in careers in the field of biology.

Qualifications: Maya is currently studying for her BSc in Biological Science with Research Abroad at Imperial College London. She has A-Levels in Spanish, Chemistry, and Biology, and a wealth of lab experience from working as a research assistant in palaeontology at the university of Valencia.

Fiontan Ruane

His lessons aim to help learners strengthen their interpretive skills whilst also giving a strong focus to structure and technical exam writing. Whether exploring Shakespearean tragedy, dissecting a 21st-century speech, or perfecting essay technique, Fiontan tailors his approach to meet each student’s individual needs, boosting their confidence and academic success. His goal is not only to improve results but to make English and History enjoyable and empowering.

Osian Edwards

Osian Edwards

Osian is passionate about helping students to build confidence in their problem-solving abilities and to develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts. His teaching style is clear, structured, and tailored to the needs of each student, ensuring they can tackle both fundamental and advanced concepts with confidence. His teaching experience, working with struggling students in a secondary schools has equipped him with the skills needed to break down complex ideas into simple, digestible explanations.

Qualifications: Osian has an A* at A-Level Chemistry and Maths, an A at A-Level Physics, a degree in Physics and a masters Compound Semiconductor Electronics, both from Cardiff University. Osian has years of teaching experience, having worked as a classroom assistant in secondary schools where he taught students who needed extra support with their Maths and Science GCSEs. Osian has tutored GCSE maths and Physics for 2 years.

Esme French

Esme French

An engaging and friendly English and History tutor. Esme has a History degree from Durham University and is currently studying Creative Writing at MA level. She believes that tutoring for academic success comes from a considerate and uplifting approach, fostering key skills and a deeper knowledge of the structure required to succeed in humanities exams.

Qualifications: Esme has degree in History from Durham University, and is currently studies a Masters in creative writing at Leeds. She runs the students magazine at her University, and also holds creative writing workshops in the Leeds community. In the two years in which she has been tutoring, Esme's obvious passion for writing creates an engaging environment for her students, who feel more connected to the subject as they are able to see a real-world application of the skills they are learning.

John Hill

John Hill

John is a Durham University maths graduate with experience tutoring mathematics, statistics and mechanics from primary school to A level as well as all aspects of the 11+ exam. John is a naturally gentle and methodical teacher, who aims to boost confidence and instil in his pupils a new way of looking at mathematics and problem solving in general. His patient, logical approach coupled with his ability to detect the source of "mathematical blockages" has helped many students surpass their expectations.

Qualifications: John has an A* in A-Level maths, an A at A-Level further maths, and a degree in maths from the University of Durham, John has years of experience teaching individual lessons as well as whole classes. In 2021/2 he worked as an English teacher in a primary school in Spain, and since returning to the UK has tutored maths in 1-on-1 classes. John is one of our most versatile tutors, and teaches maths from the 11+ all the way up to A-Level.
